WOODPECKERS SUMMER CLUB

A summer club for children aged 5 to 12

Woodpeckers is an English-language outdoor education and wellbeing programme inspired by Forest School principles.

📍 Sauna V Hájí
📅 13–15 August 2026 & 17–19 August 2026
🕣 08:30–15:00
👧 Age: 5–12 years
👥 Capacity: max. 25 children

The programme runs in English

All activities are led by English-speaking guides. English is a natural part of the programme during games, making things and shared activities.

Children do not need advanced English – what matters is the willingness to join in and communicate in natural situations.

What the children can expect

Every day the children have activities focused on play, making things and being outdoors:

  • forest games and active play
  • making things from wood and natural materials
  • a shared fire and cooking
  • creative workshops
  • rest in nature
  • new friendships and team adventures

The programme adapts to the group, the weather and the children's needs on the day.

Who guides the children

Meet the Woodpeckers team
Woodpeckers is an English-language programme focused on outdoor education and wellbeing, inspired by Forest School principles.

Our team, led by Dani, Kelly and Luk, has more than 50 years of combined experience in education, child development and outdoor learning.
With training in Forest School leadership, SEND support, trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, health and safety and paediatric first aid, we create a safe and inspiring environment where children can learn, grow and thrive.

    Hi, I'm Dani.
I love people, games, stories and the wild beauty of nature. Whether I am gathered around a fire, watching a bird in flight, noticing the small creatures at my feet or sharing an adventure with others, I find joy in the simple things that invite us to slow down, pay attention and feel more alive.
Becoming a parent deepened my understanding of how important it is for children to have a space where they can follow their curiosity, express themselves freely and remember who they are, even on hard days. Seeing the impact Forest School had on my own children, together with my lifelong love of learning and nature, inspired me to become part of that experience for others.
I believe children thrive when they feel safe being themselves and connected to the world around them. I want to be a good ancestor, and my intention is to help create spaces where children can grow with wonder, confidence and a strong sense of belonging.

Since childhood I have naturally taken on the role of starting programmes. I still believe that being with children and co-creating with them intuitively offers unique chances to learn from each other and discover new perspectives together. I also love helping children understand their emotions, making sure that when they are authentic and communicate openly, they become conscious creators of their own lives.

    Read more about Kelly…

Hi everyone, my name is Kelly. Since childhood I have loved nature and happily spent my time with soil, grass, flowers and picking blackberries. Not much has changed!
I enjoy making things, lighting fires, building shelters and generally welcoming whatever happens. I also love singing, using sign language, dancing and walking the dog in the endless Cornish landscape.
I previously worked with people with special needs, autism spectrum conditions and challenging behaviour. I saw how natural open spaces immediately lift the mood. Bringing all my passions and knowledge together, I can offer a completely unique experience and view of the world, respond to needs and I am not afraid of getting a little wet and muddy!

Our mission

At Woodpeckers Forest School, children, nature and future generations are at the centre of everything we do.

We support child-led learning, natural discovery of the world and a deeper connection with nature. We create an environment that builds confidence, resilience, a sense of belonging and natural curiosity.

Inspired by the idea of the “Children's Fire”, we help children see themselves as part of a living community – learning from nature and learning how to care for it for those who come after them.

Approach and values

We believe children do best when they are trusted, supported and given room to explore.

For us nature is not only a setting for learning but a relationship that grows. Through shared experiences outdoors we encourage cooperation, respect and responsibility towards the living world and future generations.
